My paintings capture the subtle beauty of quiet places.
I am inspired daily by the rural landscape and ever changing seasons of Wisconsin. I love the gentle hills, forests, farm fields, and lake and rivers of the Midwest.
I paint with watercolor and soft pastels. For landscapes, I typically work from the photographs and sketches I make on site. I prefer to work in the studio for the majority of the painting, although I do often start it outdoors. I paint flowers and still life paintings from life, in my studio. I like clean, pure, vibrant color, and I’m always trying to capture the light.
I studied art and art history in college and I have a double major from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I have a studio in my house and I paint 3 or 4 times a week, often with my kids for company. I walk and hike often, and take hundreds of photographs each time, which I used for inspiration in the studio later.
I live in a small town in Wisconsin with my husband and three school aged children.
